The 2010 Legacy Project program in Chile and Argentina will cost an estimated $2350 plus airfare and food. The exact price will be finalized prior to group selection, but we are confident that it will be in this ballpark.

The price includes two highly experienced trip leaders, a Spanish-English translator, nightly accommodation, all necessary ground transportation, travel insurance, selected sights, all relevant support materials, honorariums for selected speakers, and the ridiculously high reciprocal fee required to enter Chile.

As noted, the price does not include airfare or food. This far out, it is of great difficulty to reliably estimate airfare, given the many variables affecting the industry right now. It is likely the price will fall between $1000 and $1400, but it could fall outside of that, in either direction. Food costs vary greatly from person to person. But, our hostels do include breakfast free of charge, have kitchens available to guests, and Chile/Argentina have quite affordable restaurants. It is easy to live on $10/day, though it might be more fun to live on more.

The hostels also have free internet access, taking out one common additional expense. Beyond that, students may wish to purchase a phone card for communicating with home, but those are quite affordable. Otherwise, aside from souvenirs, there are no other common additional costs.

We like to keep your money in your pocket for as long as possible. The first payment - to cover the airfare and 10% reservation charge for the hostels - generally comes due in January or early February (it's entirely contingent on when our travel agent determines she can lock in the best fare). Beyond that, we try to hold back subsequent payments until April and/or May, and we're willing to try to be even more flexible if needed.

We recognize that this is a serious financial commitment in a difficult economic time. With that in mind, we revamped our program for 2010 in order to significantly reduce the overall cost. We are thrilled to bring the price back down to where our original trip to Poland was in 2007. We firmly believe that, when compared with other international programs, this is a relative bargain.
